Dean Street Rec Center Opens, Community Garage Sale, New Program Registration
 
August 19, 2025 | Woodstock, IL – As the Woodstock Recreation Center undergoes a major renovation over the next 12–18 months, the City of Woodstock is keeping programs and fitness opportunities running strong in a new temporary location:
Dean Street Rec Center
at Woodstock Assembly of God
1201 Dean Street, Woodstock

Swim at Woodstock High School

As part of the Rec Center’s temporary relocation, members can continue to enjoy pool access at Woodstock High School (501 W. South Street):
  • Lap Swim begins September 4
    Mon–Thu: 7:00–8:45 PM | Sat: 9:00–10:00 AM
  • Water Fitness Classes begin September 6
    Wed: 6:00–7:00 PM | Sat: 8:00–9:00 AM

Community Garage Sale

The community is invited to shop a wide variety of items, including sporting and exercise equipment, kids’ books and toys, a ping pong table, arts and crafts, and much more.
Location: Woodstock Rec Center (old location), 820 Lake Avenue
Times:
  • Thursday, August 21 | 1:00–6:00 PM
  • Friday, August 22 | 9:00 AM–3:00 PM

In addition to the Garage Sale, Woodstock Parks & Recreation is offering programs and activities for all ages. Registration is required for all programs at www.woodstockrecreation.com or in person at 1201 Dean Street.
  • Story Time in Jammies | Friday, August 22 at 10:00 AM
    Slip into your pajamas and join us for songs, snacks, crafts, and a reading of the much-loved Llama Llama Red Pajama. No Mama Llamas, just kids!
  • Fused Glass Workshop I | Sundays, August 24 & 31 at 1:00 PM
    Create one-of-a-kind jewelry and ornaments while learning fused glass techniques. No experience needed; tools are provided.
  • Adult Open Volleyball | Mondays at 7:00 PM
    Love volleyball? Join us Monday nights at Olson Elementary School. Teams are formed randomly each week, and a supervisor will be on site.

Fall Program Registration

Mark your calendars: Registration for Fall/Winter 2025 programs opens Thursday, August 29. From youth sports to adult classes, there’s something for every age and interest.
 
The Fall City Scene will be available online August 29 and delivered by mail September 19. Programs will be offered at various locations throughout the community, please check listings carefully.
